Gary is a graduate of Saugerties High School, New York (1971) and then the University of Alabama (1975) with a BA in Theater and a Minor in English Literature. Gary began his writing career with the UA student newspapers: The Crimson White and the Boll Weevil. He was a walk-on football player for Coach “Bear” Bryant’s 1972-3 Alabama Crimson Tide national championship contender, wearing #28 on a glorious afternoon against the Florida 'Gators. Gary was hired to model for art classes at the UA, and soon snagged by Atlanta Models and Talent. Hugh Hefner spotted one of Gary’s ads (1978) and signed him for Chicago-based Playboy Models. The Wilhelmina Modeling Agency, at the behest of Hefner, sent Gary to Spain/Mexico/Portugal/Greece (1980-84). From 1985-7, he did post graduate writing studies at New York University while modeling. He caught the eye of famed New York Literary Agent Bertha Klausner and was signed in 1991. Three years later, she sent Gary to India to pen the Kashmir Fear Trilogy for the Times of India, and most importantly, write a novel (MAD HORSES of Matheran). Gary has been married since 1998 to Indian-born artist Milly Pawar Richardson. In 2015, Gary rescued Natty, a darling female Pit Bull, from the streets of Dallas (where he currently lives).
